Women, Climate and Orgasm

A Modern Version of “The Princess and the Pea”

Got your attention?  Recently I read an article about some Dutch sex researchers who found in a study that women with cold feet orgasm less than women with warm, cozy feet.  Strange study – but actually some good information.

So, do the results of this study mean you should give your sex partner a pair of wool socks??  Well, maybe that’s not the answer.  But making sure she is comfortable is.  If a woman is comfortable and relaxed, her chances at orgasm increase significantly.

“The amygdala and prefrontal cortex (the brain areas responsible for anxiety, fear, and danger signals) strongly decrease their activation during orgasm,” said Gert Holstege, M.D., Ph.D., Chairman of the Center for Uroneurology at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.  “…a pleasant environment, which includes the room temperatures, is an important part of making her feel safe, secure, and comfortable.”

It’s not just about climate either.  Women can also be easily distracted by sounds and smells.  I personally need to be warm and there must be no noisy distractions.  Women can definitely be sensitive, sort of like the Hans Christian Andersen story of the Princess and the Pea.  The young woman is tested to see if she’s a princess, because only a princess would be sensitive enough to feel a pea under 12 mattresses.

So, maybe we’re princesses, but we’re human too and we love orgasm.  Take time to notice the environment and help put a smile on her face.
